A presentation by five psychoanalysts, through a theatrical performance, of five remarkable female analysts – Helene Deutsch, Anna Freud, Melanie Klein, Karen Horney and Marie-Louise von Franz.

The lives of these women spanned two centuries, three continents and two World Wars. Each of these women made original contributions to the development of psychoanalytic theory and clinical practice.

The five performers are themselves all clinical practitioners and their performances will be given greater depth and informed by their professional experience.

This presentation is inspired by a desire to foster dialogue among mental health practitioners. Many of the challenges therapists face in their daily clinical practice will be illuminated by an appreciation of how these five pioneering women confronted and redefined prevailing forms of psychotherapy in their own lifetimes.

The Creative Director, Dr. Louise DeCosta, has previously brought two other original presentations to the Freud Museum, The Freud/Ferenczi Letters and The Freud/Jung Letters. This is the London debut of the new presentation, first performed in the US, and here through the generosity of the Director and her troupe of analyst/author/performers.

The duration of the presentation is approx. 60mins, followed by a Q&A.

The Players:

Melanie Klein — Karen Proner, MS., FIPA

Anna Freud — Mara Heiman, LCSW
