A Guy Called Gerald + The Jungle Drummer
After nine albums and 25 years of independence A Guy Called Gerald continues to push the boundaries of electronic dance music touring worldwide bringing his «true school» flavour to a world overloaded with pop pap. Although his remixes are relatively enviable including the likes of David Bowie, Cabaret Voltaire, Black Uhuru, Finley Quaye, Lamb, Tricky and The Stone Roses, it is Gerald’s own productions and refusal to plough anyone’s furrow but his own which has marked him out. A Guy Called Gerald is responsible for the birth of British dance music as you know it today and continues to explore what is possible both in the studio and in the club with his «Live in Session» performances.
The Jungle Drummer is a unique live performer with ten years of experience playing with the biggest live acts in turntablism, hip-hop, electronica and drum and bass. An integral part of the drum and bass scene’s groundbreaking live act London Elektricity, he provided the beats for over three years for one of the most influential live acts in dance music history, selling out venues across the globe with their critically acclaimed, award winning (BBC 1xtra Best Live Act etc.) live shows
IG Culture (CoOp)
A man who has been at the forefront of London soundsystem culture for over two decades, with a record collection to reflect that, we are delighted that the man known as IG Culture will be blessing the Drop Bass Not Bombs crowd with a very special anti-war set. As a leader of the broken beat movement, with his newly relaunched CoOp night, his impact has transcended genres and so do his sets. We very much look forward to hearing what he has in his bulging bag of curveballs.
With her silky smooth voice, laid-back vibe and industry knowledge that comes from years of DJing in The U.K. & Europe, Marsha Smith aka Marshmello is an online radio triple threat. Her long-running NTS Show, Midnight Marauders, is two hours of musical bliss. It's a mix of new tunes, somewhat obscure classics and overall cohesive ft new electronic artists, old soul music and a few random fun ones in between that you're feeling that week.
Ben Hauke B2B Hudnall
Referred to by some as 'South East London’s newest and most exciting artist' Ben Hauke has had a string of recent releases that bend the sonic senses sideways and then some. His self-titled first EP arrived through his own Lewisham-based imprint, WOOP Records, at the end of last year and he's followed it up with another sublime 4-track 12" on Peckham's Church. We're sure his knack of creating instinctively immaculate rhythms will be matched with similar selections on the night as he goes back to back with Hudnall…
Recently marked out by the peerless Dimensions Festival as 'one to watch' Hudnall has been popping up all over London's finest establishments and radio stations over the past couple of years. Alongside his own Pantheism Dance nights he regularly appears on both Balaami and NTS, establishing himself as paramount selector. His sets reflect the variety of London's current music scene, blending the latest with the greatest to get the locks popping. A back to back with Ben Hauke will certainly raise the vibration.
