For the first time at Total Refreshment Centre, SOAS Radio is coming over from its base in Russell Square to pair up two of London's Afro-Latin heavyweights — Penya and Let Drum Beat — and make Sounds in Common: Volume 2. To give you a closer look before you get here:
— Penya are a percussion driven Afro-Latin electronic band led by producer and multi-instrumentalist Magnus PI. Flanked by ex-SOAS heads Viva Msimang and Lili Elina, they join Jim Le M to swap instruments and breathe life into all of them.

We're blessed that Penya will be launching their new EP, Beat Your Demon with us — out now with On The Corner Records — grab yourself a copy on the night!

LET DRUM BEAT use their vast set of Afro-Brazilian percussion to create energetic and paced rhythms. Fresh from stirring up the Jazz Cafe last month, they'll be passing through vocal harmonies, singing in Portuguese and also using Tupi-Guarani words.

Selections throughout the night will be made by On the Corner Records Head Honcho Pete OnTheCorner, backed up by DJs from SOAS Radio — expect all different colours of fire!
— Tickets: £5 Early Bird/£7 OTD (no fees)
