Raphaël Moreira Gonçalves: And See the Land Where Corals Lie
After a two weeks residency at clearview, following another residency in Iran (Mohsen Gallery, Tehran), Raphaël Moreira Gonçalves develops a series of sculptures dealing with his obsession of the «behind the screen». Drawing a parallel in between the ocean depths and the hidden face of the screened image, the sculptures both play the role of a refuge for unknown creatures and display devices to show the unseen. 'Bulkyri' and 'Rouge Ultra', two films of the artist, will also be screened alternatively on the hour for the duration of the show. The title of the show comes from a poem by Richard Garnett.
