The annual Hot Cakes BBQ has become known as a riot of hedonistic, carnivalesque energy, a soundclash of bass music, jungle, breakbeats, UKG and much much more. Now in its third year, the party relocates to Hot Cakes' traditional South London home, Brixton Jamm, to take advantage of the underground mecca's spacious terrace and opportunities for brocking out in the sunshine. Running for a full 12 hours from the middle of the afternoon to the early hours, we present the finest selection of artists across our Hot Cakes, Jungle Cakes and Gutter Gutter imprints, plus very special guests.
The BBQ will see the only London show this summer for rambunctious pyro-rave circus nutters Slamboree, firing up the festival vibes with a full live band performance. We’ll have Hot Cakes and Jungle Cakes head honchos Deekline and Ed Solo dropping exclusive selections, plus Rum 'n' Riddim hero Benny Page and the mighty Serial Killaz blasting out the ragga-fuelled junglist devastation. Fresh from being hand-picked by Boomtown Fair’s main booker to play the huge Bang Hai stage at this year’s festival, Bristol dons Fish and Sherry S make their BBQ debut, and we’re incredibly excited to host a rare London DJ appearance from legendary breakbeat godfather Rennie Pilgrem (performing a classic breaks set for those who remember). We’ll also be announcing one more iconic Jungle Cakes artist later this month to complete the lineup.
Support in the main Hot Cakes x Jungle Cakes room comes from Hot Cakes main man Jurassik, Brighton bass mechanics King Hydra and US breakbeat heroes Proxxy & Lantern. Room two will be hosted by those dastardly, deadly East London-based bass mongers eat my beat, in their EMB Presents guise, who so shook up last year’s BBQ with their madcap low-end potency in the Camden sunshine.
Every Hot Cakes BBQ so far has sold out well before the day, and this one is expected to be no different. So make sure you grab your ticket now for the only summer session that counts.
