Queer divination with Shy Charles / Tarot 101

Class size 40 people / Price £5.00 each / Materials Can bring own cards but not essential

Ever fancied yourself as a fortune teller, or just wanted to know more about Tarot: if it works, how it works, and what it can do for you? Tarot reader Shy Charles provides a look at the philosophy of divination, the history of Tarot, and gives you a chance to try interpreting the secrets of the cards for yourself. This lively and interactive talk is perfect for beginners, but filled with stories and insight that will interest those who have dabbled already. Shy Charles has been reading Tarot for over 15 years and has read cards for Karlie Kloss and Suzy Menkes.

Shy Charles last workshop with Accent magazine sold out at the Hoxton Hotel. He has worked at many great events and with brands to include Fendi, Secret Cinema and Time Out.


The Art of Queer / with artist and banner maker Ed Hall.

Class size 20 people / Price £5.00 / Materials Pencil, pens and paper provided.

The artist Ed Hall is a banner maker whose work champions the causes of those who are seeking justice from a wide variety of backgrounds and political view points. For more information about his work please follow the links





Ed’s masterclass will start with a look at the history of political movements and the use of banners as symbols to unite people. He will trace his journey into banner making and his eventual life’s work and passion and his mastery the art form that has lead him to work with artist like Jeremy Deller and to making pieces for the British council and queer icon Penny Arcade.

In the second half of the class Ed will work with the group to make drawing that will lead to the making of a unique ‘Queer’ banner. He will ask the class to identify what imagery, representation and slogans they would like to used on the banner The group will then will work with Ed to draw and plan the design the banner, he will take this sketch away and make the banner up.

The resulting banner will then be put on display in Hackney, either in the VFD window or the Hackney museum.
