Following our own ambitious and successful Home Truths season at The Bunker, Cardboard Citizens invites you to a day-long creative event at our home in Whitechapel with activists, artists, lobbyists and arts organisations to consider the role of theatre and the arts in combatting the housing crisis.

Participants will take part in practical workshops, creative presentations and interactive sessions led by those working on the frontline of the housing crisis.

Confirmed sessions from organisations and individuals include: Crisis, playwright Ali Taylor, Sheila McKechnie Foundation, The Museum of Homelessness, Take Back The City and Professor Nick Crowson.

The event welcomes delegates to share their stories, perspectives and practice. No previous experience is necessary, just an interest and willingness to take part!

It’s been over a year since Cardboard Citizens hosted the first Creative Symposium and in that time more has changed than we could have imagined. Big decisions are being made and we want to take this opportunity to ask the question: ‘How did we get here and what do we do next?’

This event is taking place as part of our Home Truths Festival of Heritage Events funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and delivered in partnership with The Sheila Mckechnie Foundation.

Tickets cost £5 and proceeds will be donated to The Red Cross London Fire Relief fund for the people of Grenfell Tower (please note Eventbrite takes an administration fee of £1.51, which we are unable to donate).
