Yogacampus is delighted to be offering this Foundation Degree Level qualification in Teaching Mindfulness and Compassion with Karen Atkinson of Mindfulness UK, a Registered Training Centre and a Member of the UK Network of Mindfulness based Teacher Training Organisations. It offers a complete progression route to enable professionals to gain the skills and knowledge to deliver mindfulness to others. This qualification has been designed in a flexible format to teach a wide range of professionals how to work therapeutically with mindfulness and compassion and integrate these skills into their own profession, applying this teaching to individuals, groups and organisations.
The aim of the course is to ensure that professionals gain the necessary depth and knowledge to teach the skills of mindfulness and compassion to patients, clients and students, thereby setting and maintaining high standards and helping the benefits of mindfulness to spread and flourish throughout Europe. Currently, there is no other course of this level being offered in the UK.

The qualification consists of pre-reading prior to a teaching day, and time is then allocated to complete assignments before the next teaching day. Some of the assessments will take place over the teaching days in addition to home study assignments. You will need to maintain a daily personal mindfulness meditation practice.
There are 37 hours of face to face teaching, which includes one private tutorial via Skype or telephone, and a further 163 hours of directed learning hours, making a total of 200 hours. You will be given some specific articles, books and internet resources to study and there will also be the opportunity to explore areas of individual specific interest.
Students must attend all 6 teaching days to complete the course. When applying, applicants must also send a copy of a certificate of completion of a substantial introductory mindfulness-based programme, such as the eight-week Mindfulness-based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Programme or Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). To be acceptable other introductory courses must fulfil the following criteria:
(i) deliver at least 12 teaching hours
(ii) require home practice of mindfulness and mindfulness meditations
(iii) have an interactive component such that the learner’s developing practice is discussed with the tutor, whether in class, online, via SKYPE or telephone

What are some the differences between this course and the MBSR Teacher Training?
The IMCPP Course will allow you to teach on a 1:1 basis as well as offer bespoke courses for specialist groups.You will also gain a professional clinical qualification recognised by the UK Network of Teacher Training organisations. The emphasis of this course is on the therapeutic and neuro-scientific aspects of mindfulness with specific training in compassion itself.
