Forget Notting Hill — It’s all about Kamwenge Karnival this month!

Come and have a dance in support of the Kamwenge Scholarship Fund — a charity launched this year to sponsor the secondary education of kids in Western Uganda!

Built in partnership with Robert Kamasaka — a teacher and the founder of the Equatorial College School — the Fund is currently supporting 14 kids. With your help, we hope to raise the money to continue supporting them as well as taking on an aditional five next year- and eventually expanding to another school.

Dancing in a dark room is something most of us do every weekend anyway, so why not do it for a cause which has potential to change lives!

We'll be at the Arcola Bar in Dalston playing the finest latin, afrobeat, highlife and house, with a visual display showing footage of local everyday life.

Tash LC (Boko Boko/ Worldwide FM) is a radio host, DJ and music collector with a love for sounds from Africa and the diaspora both old and new. Tash finds herself at home on the airwaves with residencies on Worldwide FM and Radar, balancing highly palatable afro-jazz and highlife with more up-tempo meetings of Kuduro, Gqom, and esoteric club sounds.

Producer, DJ and Percussionist, Vince Vella (Havana Cultura/Brownswood) blends a deep knowledge of Afro-Cuban music and tropical rhythms with electronics. Vince has remixed Mobo award winners Sons Of Kemet and 4Hero among others and is a producer for Gilles Peterson’s Havana Cultura project. He’s worked with some of the most respected Cuban musicians and his productions have received support by the likes of Benji B, Osunlade and Patrick Forge. Alongside producing he's an accomplished percussionist who has studied in Cuba and Brazil.

Mr. Redley (Café Au Lait/ Reprezent Radio) Initially cutting his teeth playing in clubs across Greater Manchester, and has been very busy since arriving back in London town. He used to have a regular show on Radar radio and on Balamii radio, he has now moved to FM radio and hosts his monthly ‘Café Au Lait’ show on Reprezent radio alongside putting on a number of small and intimate nights across the big smoke. With an incredibly eclectic taste he'll be spinning some funky west-african grooves for you to enjoy.

Tim Garcia (Musica Macondo/Jazz FM) will be on warm up duties spinning you some fine Afrobeat/ Afrofunk and Afrodisco. Check his weekly show on Jazz FM and mixes for Musica Macondo here: soundcloud.com/musicamacondo
