A benefit show for The Women's Project at Lewisham Refugee and Migrant Network.

Women's Support

LRMN’s Women’s Project aims to improve the health and wellbeing of female refugees, asylum seekers and migrants who have experienced trauma because of torture, conflict of war or gender-based violence including female genital mutilation, rape, trafficking, domestic violence and forced marriage.

In helping women to recover from violence and trauma, the Women’s Project runs four different but complementary services, managed entirely by committed female counsellors and social workers either on a voluntary basis or on placement, volunteers and staff. Our services are free and confidential and are designed to fit together as ‘wrap-around’ support.

The Women’s Project offers the following help:

One-to-one counselling
Weekly nurturing sessions
(Wednesdays, term-time only)
Gardening (Fridays)
Mother and child arts therapy
(Bi-weekly, term-time only)
Mother and child dance movement psychotherapy
(Bi-weekly, term-time only)
Practical advocacy
Volunteering/training and employment support
We also run the Play & Connect project and Mother and Child Dance-movement Psychotherapy – these are group sessions for mothers and children between the age of 0 and 5. The aim is to help mothers and children to form healthy attachments, improve the way they communicate with each other in order to minimise the effects of mothers’ trauma on their children.

London nature-loving punks.

Pop bangers for all the family, bring your parents along.

Kind of like a cross between Art Brut and Kraftwerk.

That started off as a pun about arts & crafts but then I really liked the way it sounded.
