‘Meryl has a brilliant comic mind, and taught me how to approach joke writing from a fresh angle’ Suzy Bennett

“Meryl’s perception and ability to help us push the boundaries of our writing will forever be a useful tool. Our success in Edinburgh 2014 would not have happened without her.” Rayguns Look Real Enough

«Being in a bit of a rut with my comedy and teetering between being an act and an MC, I was delighted to do Meryl's course, a brilliant joke writer herself, who is really passionate, she instills the importance of working at your act, give great feedback and did a lot of work herself. This course is brilliant value and I can highly recommend it to anyone, either beginner or a pro.» Aideen McQueen

«There are various comedy courses out there, but this one really is different. There are many reasons I would recommend Meryl O'Rourke as a comedy tutor. The main one being that she not only writes great jokes and therefore understands the mechanics of comedy, but you will get very honest and constructive feedback. » Matt Price

«As an experienced, commissioned writer, I found Meryl's class invaluable. Meryl's cheeky choices push you out of your comfort zone and force you to think in ways you never have before» Tom Glover, Winner BBC Writersroom Trans Comedy Award.

«Opened my eyes to the energy and effort that you need to put into writing to create new material with so many techniques that the mind boggles. I defy you to attend this course and not come away with a whole new perspective on your comedy. If you are serious about improving your writing then sign yourself up and spend time with an amazing talent who graciously will share that talent with you» Johnny Murphy

(She also teaches people how to write amazing reviews :) ).

(Nb you are WELCOME to drop in, but I must point out this course focuses on finding the right writing tools for YOU. This takes a certain amount of trial and error,so attending just one may not help you as much! The course has been developed as building week to week )
