Last year Meryl was a winner of the inaugural Betty And Peter Sitcom writing award.
She had a 10 month intensive, learning the process of sitcom writing from top producers at the coalface of modern comedy, including head honchos from Big Talk and the BBC.
In this course she will pass on everythng she didn't know before sitting in the offices of such comedy luminaries as Saurabh Kakkar, Kate Daughton and Steve Kaplan.
What's a beat sheet? Logline? Character arc? Sub? Treatment? Which of the oft taught «rules» of sitcom are actually used by producers? And how to fit your creativity into the accepted frameworks.
6 weeks from Sept 9th (NO class Sept 30th). So — 9th Sept, 16th Sept, 23rd Sept, 7th Oct, 14th Oct, 21st Oct.
Meryl will use exercises, discussions, lectures, real life examples, group work, class work, homework (once a week) and one on one tutorials. There's no wi fi in the classroom — so you will be required to watch an emailed selection of clips before the class each week
