International Rescue face ruin.

Brains sneezes over his cream cheese toast.

….And something else

It’s 2026

The floor is lava, or perhaps… the floor could be lava. The potency of the volcanic undercurrents cater to Gordon Tracey’s unmovable death drive. After the sudden passing of his wife, Mr Tracey, alongside Brains, keep the boys’ fiction alive through their persistent denial of volcanic activity. Or rather, any activity.

Activity on the island is limited. The initial faux pas being that to a low flying plane, the apparently dormant rock resembles a billionaire’s luxury holiday spot. It maintains itself. Not in itself, not by itself. For it would not cease to exist without the Traceys, but the Traceys provide the necessary break from primitivism into a tech-driven modernity, a timely re-enactment of Western colonial excesses, the latter providing a necessary juncture from which to purge the racist and murderous indecencies of the Tracey’s forefathers. An International Rescue operation had become the only way out.

Brains sneezes over his cream cheese toast.

The perils of Actual Life: we exist within our own subjective Other, Objective Life or maybe even Accidental Life. At least when it comes to dealing with the well-mannered and sharply witted tongues of others, to Other the Other seems to exert itself as a moral infidelity, the betrayal of one’s tongue… to then misplace one’s Western Patriarchal Virtue (WPV) card.

Mr Tracey eats his shoe.
