JOHN LOCKE LECTURE

In a world ever more divided between Islam and “the West” can East and West talk together about ethics? Are moral differences irreconcilable, the product of different cultures? This lecture is the result of many discussions with colleagues both in the West and Middle East. You may be surprised by what you hear….

David Misselbrook was a GP in Lewisham for three decades, during which time he was a GP Trainer, a GP VTS Program Director, Dean of the Royal Society of Medicine, President of the Faculty of the History and Philosophy of Medicine and Pharmacy of the Society of Apothecaries, and Course Director of the DPMSA. He now lives in Bahrain where he teaches for RSCI. He has taught family medicine and ethics and examined postgraduate Family Medicine across the Gulf region and beyond. He remains Senior Ethics Adviser to the British Journal of General Practice. He is author of Thinking about Patients and of various papers and book chapters on family medicine and medical ethics.
