THE LIFE AND DEATH have injected a new energy into the London UK alt-rock underground, thrilling crowds with their emotional, dynamic live shows.

The songs are of love and heartbreak; hope and despair; belonging and betrayal. And the sound is dynamic, thrilling and catchy as hell. Imagine a triangle with The Strokes, Nirvana and Radiohead at its three corners. Then fill it with the swagger of The Afghan Whigs, the attitude of The Clash, the slink of Motown, and the pop attack of The Ramones.

Music for the lost, the hopeful and the brave of heart.

«The music from THE LIFE AND DEATH feels like a ceremony, bringing listeners to a state of communion, washed free of fear with its pulsating heartbeat of new wave rock. These are punks with souls.» – L. Landon – LSR

Marine grew in the gaps between the concrete of the city, with four very different stories combining into one. Intuitive beats mix with hypnotic bass, whilst the two vocals of Cara Sebastian and Ruby Jack braid together over hooky guitar lines.

The songs of Marine are crystallised from mythology and fables, mingling with personal words and emotions to form tales of the ordinary and extraordinary. They describe themselves as ‘Fable Electric’, a genre all their own, combining their fascination of the underworld, Seal demons, mighty Kraken, werewolves, witches and gods… even questioning the very nature of storytelling itself.

Drawing parallels with Kate Bush, PJ Harvey, Radiohead, and Warpaint, these audacious girls have been running their own show, touring Europe and the UK and quickly building a cult following in Berlin and London flogging countless handmade CDs and artwork. Their first festival season together last summer saw dynamite shows at Secret Garden Party, Shambala and more, leading to support from BBC6 Music.

Their story is just beginning as they delve deeper into their concept, having just proudly finished their debut album with a producer they greatly admire; Rob Ellis (Anna Calvi, PJ Harvey, Cold Specks).

“Track of the Day 10/10. There's something softly devastating about Marine.”
Clash Magazine

“Submerging ethereal vocals and gentle guitars in an ocean of space.”

“It's instantly apparent how beautiful a collaboration Marine are; dreamy, rich, robust vocals… It's the musical equivalent of a creamy post-coital blush.”
The Line of Best Fit

Chesca Dolecka brings her astonishing new material to this, her first major show since fronting London’s cult-heroes The Murder Barn.

Accompanied by Daniel Maiden-Wood (John J Presley, Anna Calvi), Chesca’s fierce new songs will be ripping the venue apart and filling it with the beautiful soulful energy of stunning new tracks “Blood To The Dogs”, “Adored” and more.

We are delighted to welcome CHILDHOOD'S Jonny Williams as our very special guest DJ for the evening.

Jonny will be playing sublime soul and post-punk throughout the night, so bring your best moves and see y'all at the show.

2017 has been a breakthrough year for CHILDHOOD, with the release of their amazing new album Universal High, which was recently Album of the Day on BBC 6 Music, where CHILDHOOD also recorded a live session for Steve Lamacq's show.

We are so excited to have them join us for the evening.

«Universal High represents many things to us as a band. It signifies change, both musically and mentally whilst also revisiting influences that confounded our interest in music in the first place. What I think is noticeable is the direct nature of the songs and their influences.

Being surrounded by soul music, classic pop songs and music with any form of groove all my life, these influences began to speak for themselves within these new songs Childhood were writing.»
