Join us in celebrating the potential of art and creativity in improving our mental health.

Drop in to a range of free youth-led workshops and activities that spark conversation about what and how we feel.

This event is designed and delivered by the National Gallery Young Producers and YoungMinds Activists.

That feeling when …

Room 9
Examine the emotions, body language, and expressions depicted in the collection to create your own meme in this drop-in workshop.

Exploring vulnerability with Sophia
2.30pm and 4pm (1 hour)
Room 18
Spoken-word artist, Sophia Thakur, hosts a workshop and performance, piecing together emotion, belief, text, and voice. This is an opportunity to engage with spoken word on a personal level, as well as contribute to a collaborative poem on a typewriter stationed in the Gallery.

Recline and unwind
1-2.30pm and 3.30-5pm (drop-in)

Get tacky with plasticine and create a likeness of yourself as a… chair. Yes, that's right! Preoccupy your minds and hands by taking inspiration from 'Van Gogh's Chair' to create a mini-portrait of yourself or your friend. Take away a memento and a new anxiety-relieving technique!

Squash and squeeze
Learning Gallery
Use balloons and flour to create handmade stress balls based on characters from the collection.

Gently down the stream

Creative Space
Come and immerse yourself in our multi-sensory installation, which brings to life Renoir's lazy afternoon.

Agony artist

Explore the collection and use the perspectives of the characters you find in our paintings to relieve your worries.

Feeling colour

Room 34
Create a collage inspired by Constable's 'Weymouth Bay: Bowleaze Cove and Jordon Hill' and explore the relationship between colour and emotion.

Nail art therapy
1-3pm and 4-5pm
Pigott Education Centre
They say your hands and mind are your greatest tools, so why not give them a break. Visit Young Producer Cat Shanu to unwind with a relaxing hand massage or fun nail art gel manicure. Bookings taken on the day, first come first served.

Starting in Room 65
Travel through the Gallery on an audio-sensory tour as Young Producer Melissa Baksh curates a playlist to accompany your journey, inviting you to experience the emotions found in the collection.
