The bottom line is, she’s doing life right. I mean, I still listen to Jacqueline Wilson audiobooks and wear a bow tie and waistcoat to work. I know we’re different people and we just chose different paths but the reality is she’s done everything right and I’m a failure.
Victoria is 27 with a daughter, a husband and a mortgage; in other words, she’s ticking off all of the boxes you’re supposed to have in early adulthood. Jess couldn’t imagine someone with a more perfect, fulfilled life. Jess, on the other hand, is single, taking night classes in theatre while working as an usher to pay her exorbitant rent. Victoria wishes she could stay out till 3am on a whim. It’s not that they’re unhappy, they just want a little bit of what the other one has. So they’re going to talk to each other about it, and maybe throw in the odd dance routine, in front of a live audience.

I’ll Have What She’s Having explores the state of contemporary womanhood and asks why, when we have more choices than ever before, every decision we make feels like the wrong one.

About the company

Victoria Bianchi is a Scottish performer and playwright. Much of her current work is site-specific, and previous solo works have been programmes at The Arches (Glasgow), Oran Mor (Glasgow) and Summerhall (Edinburgh).

Jess Brodie is a London-based performer originally from Edinburgh. She is currently studying acting at IDSA and is part of the Regional Young Actors Ensemble. Roles while training include Sybil in Private Lives and Lady in Orpheus Descending. She has previously written for Deadly Seven at Chelsea Theatre and is currently developing a new show for LGBTq+ Arts Review.

I’ll Have What She’s Having is their first collaboration.
