Tuckshop x The Jazz Cafe Present: An Evening Curated By Esa

Andrew Ashong (live) — Sound Signature
Alma Negra (Debut live show)
Esa (Host + DJ) — Dekmantel, Worldwide FM

Tuckshop Music has teamed up with The Jazz Cafe & Esa to curate a night of the finest sounds from further afield and beyond. We'll be welcoming Theo Parish collaborator, Andrew Ashong (Sound Signature) to headline alongside Dario & Mario of Alma Negra for their debut live show, finishing off with Esa's hand-picked selections.

Andrew Ashong (live) — Sound Signature

British-Ghanaian producer Andrew Ashong needs no introduction. Recognised by many as a «Figurehead of the UK soul scene» Ashong's innovative production takes you on a soulful journey like no other with his smooth & silky cosmic vocals timed with his unique style of production as he mixes jazz, soul and electronica. Beyond co-producing his infectious «Flowers' track with Theo Parish, Ashong has been compared to artists such as Marvin Gaye & Bill Withers.

Alma Negra (Live DEBUT) — Sofrito, Basic Fingers, Highlife

For their DEBUT live show, the Swiss rhythm aficionados and Basel-based collective bring their organic and crafted rhythms with a touch of jazz and deep atmospherics to London! The collective of brothers have become renowned for their energetic cuts and dynamic arrangements joining the dots between Disco, Gwoka, soca, Maloya and the rest with releases on Sofrito, Basic Fingers, and Highlife. Expect the live show to feature African rhythms and chants with house beats and lashings of jazz from both Dario & Mario who'll be joining us for this special show.

Esa (DJ Set) — Dekmantel, Worldwide FM

You might know him for his work with Ata Kak, or his regular radio shows on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM, the Highlife World Series or you might know him for his release on tastemaking Dutch imprint Dekmantel. However you know him, Esa has become a household name in the ‘underground’ dance music scene.
