ICMP London - The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance
Foundation House, 1A Dyne Road, NW6 7XG London, United Kingdom
This masterclass will be one for any students with an interest in rock music — specifically bass players in that genre.
Its content will range from advice on auditioning and touring to learning songs. There will also be plenty of anecdotal advice about life as a musician in the modern financial climate with a bit of technical playing tips thrown in.
About Ben Ellis:
Ben plays electric and upright bass and has played everything from squeaky clean pop to filthy rawk n roll. His style is dynamic combining great feel, melody and sensitivity with drive, passion and hard-hitting flair.
He is the live bassist for all of Iggy’s solo shows, which has included two Foo Fighters shows at Milton Keynes Bowl to 70,000, three Metallica shows in Mexico City to 70,000 a night and often big televised festival headline slots all over Europe, the USA, Canada and South America.
As of November 2017, he will be playing in the band with Mike Garson (David Bowie’s original piano player since 1972) for his tour performing the Aladdin Sane album and a second set of Bowie hits.
Another ongoing project is Gutterdämmerung; playing the live soundtrack to this fairytale rock n roll movie which features Iggy Pop, Grace Jones, Lemmy, Josh Homme, Henry Rollins, Slash, Tom Araya, Mark Lanegan, Jesse Hughes, Justice, Nina Hagen and more. It involves playing of two hours of material on click to timecode and has been performed with Grace Jones, Eagles of Death Metal and Henry Rollins in theatres and festivals all over Europe.
