LDN Talks are proud to present Jana Uher, who will be sharing insights from her cutting-edge research on personality.

You will learn that personality is a broad concept that refers not only to individual differences in brain, mind and behaviour but also to our beliefs and narratives about such differences. You will learn about the central role that these different aspects of personality play in our everyday lives and how they may have influenced human evolution.

Jana Uher has pioneered in developing methods to systematically compare individuals’ observable behaviours with the ways in which we judge their personality. This novel approach provided new insights into the complex thought processes by which we form impressions of others.

She will share insights from her newest research on this topic that also revealed the subtle pathways by which stereotypical beliefs can influence personality assessments. These new findings highlight that our judgements of others also have a lot to do with ourselves.

Jana obtained a PhD in Psychology before spending 8 years as a scientist at world-renowned universities and research institutions in various countries.

Her research focuses on personality that she has studied in children and adults of different background as well as in some primate species. These broad experiences allowed her to develop more comprehensive views on individual differences and to gain a deeper insight in what it actually is that we commonly call personality.

Currently, Jana is a Senior Research Fellow at the London School of Economics where she explores the mental processes involved in personality judgements. Her research has received various awards and prizes for its originality and for addressing fundamental research problems.
