In the 80s, AREA was a warehouse space where anything could happen. From its conception till its closure this New York nightclub welcomed everyone from different walks of life to experience the imaginary world that was constantly changing. On any given night the crowd would be filled with the likes of Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol or Grace Jones to name a few. The music ranged like the crowd and you could expect to hear anything from Garage to Dancehall to house from DJs such as Justin Strauss. Join us as we remember AREA — a place where Basquiat frequented but also to a place that helped shape the nightlife landscape that we see today.
