Former Manchester post-punk and synth night, Dancing and Laughing, returns in its Southern incarnation, and finally lives up to its name with some musical comedy as well as the usual sort of music. This is for founder Nathan Clemence's 39th birthday. Start New Year early!
Live music from:
BLACK LIGHT ASCENSION
Minimal post-punk inspired stripped raw dance tracks and mechanized angst and paranoia.
After the forced deportation of John Murphy and dissolution of Knifeladder, Andrew Trail turned to a new approach. Black Light Ascension commenced operations August 2009. Using just a basic drum machine/ sequencer and Korg Microsampler and a bass 'guntar' the album 'Ashes' was recorded, then released via Hauruck! in 2011. Hunter Barr took over form Reza Udhin on keyboard duties just after NYE 2011.10.
Live singing and dancing over a backing track from:
After a year of many exciting short sets at the comedy nights of London, but full-length gigs only in other cities, you should try not to miss this last chance of the year! Johnny Dave is the masked man of mystery and romance who has been making people laugh and cry all over the place, plus also exciting them with his body and his moves. A unique mixture of synthpop and noise like nobody else does, with songs about longing, loneliness and lust, this is going to be really special. You will be dancing and laughing when Johnny Dave comes to entertain you.
Musical comedy from:

'Sam Rhodes..inventive...unpredictable...utterly convicted of whatever mad tangent he goes down next...and warm — even with the shouting! ' — Tom Ward, Chortle Best Newcomer
