LAMP: LAMP EWA LIMANÓWKA — FRANCESC SERRA VILA — COS CHAPMAN
LAMP is a trio of artists form widely different fields: a dancer, a musician and a light/video projections artist. We are fascinated by the possibility of combining movement, sound and light to create a synthesis that is more than the sum of the parts.
Live improvisation is – for us – the most exciting artistic act. The challenge focuses our minds completely on what is happening right now, right in front of us. We hope to share this excitement with the audience.
The three members of LAMP met while collaborating on Verse Unbound’s Lingering Games a dance theatre piece presented in Taipei at World Stage Design: Scenofest 2017. Ideas for a new project started to form when we came back to London; we wanted to keep the collaborative synergy of disciplines between artists from different countries and disciplines.
Directed by Kate Smith
THAT! Ensemble creates new compositions in space by combining improvised voice and movement. Based on the precepts of her research, The Embodied Voice, Kate utilizes frameworks and rules for developing performances that tread the line between theatre, music and dance. Her work privileges the individuality of each singer, leading to dynamic, relational performances full of humanity, humor and honesty. THAT! Ensemble’s performances have been described by audience members as “joyous, holistic, thorough”, and “instinctual, animal, free…” They have played at the Barbican’s Dialogue Festival, Barbican’s Curious Unfinished, and Milton Court’s Studio Theatre.
The Near Miss Company is a collaborative, interdisciplinary performance trio consisting of choreographer Shannon Coote; performer/producer Louisa Robey and sound artist Lee Boyd Allatson. Associate Artists of De Montfort University, the NMC are currently developing and performing two major works: RISK and Near Miss. As well as UK-wide shows and workshop dates, 2018 will also see the group appearing at the Hong Kong Great Festival.
