Desertscene are pleased to announce that The Triple Headed Horror Show is taking over The Underworld Camden on Friday the 13th of April. Co-headlining the show are three of the UK underground’s best in the shape of Steak, Elephant Tree and Ten Foot Wizard. What better way to start the weekend?
Delivering as advertised with meaty riffs in abundance, Steak are pure stoner rock worship. Built around pounding fuzzy hooks and raw, gravel-shredding vocals, the band absorb the influence of the desert and produce liquid gold. Debuting in full length with 2015’s Slab City, an album which bleeds sand, Steak showcased their unmistakable take on the genre with precision. Adding yet more instant classics to their repertoire with last year’s No God To Save, Steak are a treat live.
Sharply rising in reputation among doomheads, Elephant Tree are one of the most exciting bands in all of heavy right now. A band unafraid to push outwards, their bold opening statement, Theia, with it’s sitar breakdowns cutting through the crawl paced debut, was engineered to grab your attention. It was 2016’s self titled, though, where Elephant Tree truly found their voice as a unit. Despite the focus on the low and the slow, Elephant Tree is a surprisingly fluid and smooth album, oozing with a strutting blues infused soul. Moving on from an album easily in contendership as one of the favourites from the year, Elephant Tree’s future is mouth watering. Make sure you catch them this April.
If ever there were a party band in the stoner rock scene, it’s Ten Foot Wizard. Part of Manchester’s thriving heavy music explosion, TFW have been a stable part of any good lineup in the North-West and beyond since 2009. Both their full lengths, 2013’s Return to the Infinite and Sleeping Volcanoes from 2015 evidence the band’s live sound which has the groove of stoner moving everything along, yet is grounded in the classic rock and metal style. Upbeat as all hell and bouncy as anything, Ten Foot Wizard couldn’t be more perfect for a Friday night if; plus, any band with a track titled ‘Covered in Tits’, you know they’ll bring the good times.
Three top bands for only a tenner, the spooktacular event takes place on Friday the 13th April so it would be bad luck to miss it. It’s also the perfect warm up for the chaos to come at the following month’s Desertfest. The Triple Headed Horror Show will be one of only a few London gigs for each band in 2018, so don’t miss your chance to catch all three in action at The Underworld. Book your tickets today.
