From the old rally cry “Black is Beautiful” to the more recent tag #BlackGirlMagic, affirmations of self-love are not a new phenomenon. But what does this look like in practice and when faced with all the challenges Black women face today?

Led by poet Indigo Williams and visual artist Lesley Asare, this workshop explores ideas about what love is, what love isn’t and what it means to love yourself as a Black Woman in the 21st century. In true tradition, we invite you to our sisters’ circle and a carefully curated workshop themed around a tea party.

Participants are encouraged to put aside their daily stresses, endless to-do lists and chores to think deeply about their own personal needs.
