There is no artist that has had the impact on modern music than that of the godfather of soul, the hardest working man in showbizness Mr Please Please himself – James Brown.
Having created the some of the most memorable and dancefloor friendly rhythms of all time his grounbreaking funk and soul sounds influenced all dance music that followed with his inspiration being felt by artists as varied as Public Enemy and George Michael. The drums from the classic ‘Funky Drummer’ are documented to have been sampled over 1,3000 alone!
On the night his incredible catalogue of work and that it inspired will be explored by one of the true officianods of the funk Mr Thing. His 2 hour set (10pm-12pm) will delve into the full spectrum of James Brown and his band that over the year’s included such legends as Jimmy Hendrix, Bootsy Collins, Fred Wesley & Maceo Parker and just a few of the tracks that have sampled his their work.
Mr Thing is joined by The Doctor’s Order own head honcho and hardest working man in Hip-Hop Spin Doctor and their good mate, the incredible DJ Bobafatt. Expect the full spectrum of Funk, Soul, Disco, Hip-Hop, House and beyond.
