Discover the career journey of a Fashion Designer with a specialism of textiles through this insightful and valuable talk by designer Kiren Passi.
After graduating with a BA (Hons) in Womenswear with surface textiles at the University of the Arts London in 2004, Kiren spent 10 years as a Womenswear designer working on a variety of products including jersey t-shirts for the luxury and high street sectors in the major fashion capitals, Paris, London and New York. During this time Kiren also worked directly with artisans in countries such as Bali, Japan, India.
After completing the MA in Textiles (Mixed Media pathway) at the Royal College of Art in 2016 (as a specialist in material surface texture) Kiren developed her business producing fashion collections and collaborations with other disciplines, samples of which will be on show during the talk. Based between London and Hong Kong, Kiren also teaches part time at CSM (short courses) and gives lecturers and seminars on fashion and textile design for universities worldwide.
Kiren’s extensive fashion experience has led to a number of consultancy projects working with a range of fashion clients. Hear what it takes to have a career in fashion and textiles, and benefit from the advice, tips and tricks that Kiren will pass on in this talk.
The event starts at 6pm with a glass of wine in the Museum foyer and opportunity to view the current exhibition. The talk follows at 6.15pm for 6.20pm in the Fashion Studio and lasts for approximately one hour including an opportunity to ask questions and followed by a book signing in the foyer. Ticket includes admission to the exhibition and guests are welcome to view this before or after the talk.
