Productivity can be learned and improved. Procrastination can be overcome. The influences that determine our productivity and procrastinating behaviours range from biological, to psychological, psychosocial and environmental. In order to create positive change, we firstly need to understand why we do what we do, how we might change, and what tools we can use to do so. In this talk, we will discuss the underpinnings of unproductive behaviours, common misconceptions, and practical performance strategies for improvement. We will approach the subject from various angles and also consider long-term change and what this requires from us.

Ellis Pecen is a performance consultant and coach. She is a professional performer and worked in music, stand-up comedy, theatre, public speaking and education. Ellis works with driven people from all walks of life, including children. She holds an MSc in Performance Science and is finalizing a PhD in Performance Psychology. She originally trained in theatre and later pursued music and graduated from the Royal College of Music as a classical performer. After that, she studied the psychological aspects of performance and simultaneously immersed herself in performing in various performance disciplines. She’s fascinated with human potential and achievement across performance domains but also –crucially- the performance needed in everyday life! She combines academic research and experience to make performance psychology practical and available to all. Ellis works privately with individuals and delivers workshops to organisations and public institutions. She’s worked on areas such as dealing with performance anxiety, training psychological skills, productivity, decision-making, communication, poise, vocal projection, lifestyle changes, … and more. Ellis is also experienced in working with youth and is particularly interested in mentoring with regards to social mobility and performance. She likes dogs, noisy music and weightlifting.
