Just over a generation ago, 49 per cent of all UK architects worked for the public sector. The LCC Architects' Department was where Alison and Peter Smithson, Archigram, Colin St John Wilson, Farrell & Grimshaw, James Stirling and RMJM started their careers. Today, the proportion of architects working for the public sector is 0.7 per cent in England, and just 0.2 per cent in London.

While efforts are being made in Local Authorities to return architects and designers to the public sector, some organisations are taking it upon themselves to work for the public good. Creative solutions are being put forward that refocus our attention on improving the public realm and public buildings for all.

Join Pooja Agrawal and Finn Williams, Public Practice; Indy Johar, Architecture 00; and Hadrian Garrard and Diana Ibáñez López, Create London to hear about the inventive ways architects and designers are being empowered to deliver projects for the benefit of everyone.

Hear about how creative and nuanced readings of spatial, cultural, social and economic conditions are used in design, place shaping and projects for the public good.
