It’s Time to Testify… Again!
The Flaming Sideburns are returning to the UK in their original line-up for the first time since 2001. Helsinki’s finest garage rockers are about to play in London on 21 September and in Brighton on 22 September.
You better prepare yourself for a full assault of early rock and roll, 60’s punk and hi-octane Detroit rock… all this combined with Finnish madness and Latin American swagger!
Formed in 1995 The Flaming Sideburns took the world in the late 90’s and early 00’s touring everywhere from New York City to Moscow and from the Arctic Circle to the jungles of Brazil. They were among the forerunners of Nordic rock and roll boom with The Hives or The Hellacopters and have shared the stage with their greatest inspirations, such as The Sonics or The Stooges.
The original line-up recorded their most well-loved albums It’s Time to Testify (1998) and Hallelujah Rock’n’rollah (2001) before guitar player Jeffrey Lee Burns moved over to the U.S.A. in 2001. The band kept going in various line-ups and never quit but after a decade of only a handful gigs they are back for real.
Earlier this year the five original members — Argentine-born Eduardo Martinez (voc) and his Finnish associates Ski Williamson (gtr), Jeffrey Lee Burns (gtr), The Punisher (bass) and Jay Burnside (drums) — got back together in their headquarters in Helsinki before heading for a tour in Spain. The test run resulted raving reviews and the band is yearning for more now.
A new album, the first one since 2007, is under works but before that: It’s time to testify, London and Brighton!
In London the brilliant Blue Carpet Band have agreed to support! DJ Ola from Ola's Kool Kitchen will keep the party going until 2 a.m.
